JCC Aquatics Swimming Lesson Guidelines

At-A Glance Details:

  • Reduced class sizes
  • Enhanced sanitizing of all high touch surfaces in between classes
  • All preschool privates, and Swim Kids 1, 2, 3, 4 will require parent participation in water
  • Showers and changerooms are available BEFORE lessons, but NO ACCESS AFTER classes are finished (prepare to go home in swim suit)
  • All lesson participants must have a cleansing shower prior to the lesson

Private Lesson Registration: A selection of private classes will be offered for preschool, and school aged children. Reserve your spot through our portal below. Someone from the pool office will follow up to confirm all private lesson bookings and to arrange payment for lesson fees. Participants signed up for preschool private lessons (ages 3-5yrs), or Swim Kid levels 1-4 will require a parent in the water to ensure safety and assist in any hands-on aspect of the lesson.

Please Note: Group classes for preschool levels (Turtle/Guppy/Dolphin/Shark/Octopus) are not available

Drop-off and Pick-up:

  • Only children registered for afterschool programs will be allowed in the building.
  • Children & Youth will be screened upon entering the JCC building and asked to wash their hands
  • Parents will not be allowed in the building at this time (please drop off and pick up at the JCC front door)
  • There will be no public hang out spaces available to clients of the JCC.
  • A safe supervised waiting space will be available for children coming by school bus or being dropped off.
    This space will run Monday to Thursday 3:30- 5:00pm
  • Parents or guardians must pick up after the program is done. A late fee will be charged to those who do not pick up on time.

Before Lesson:

  • We recommend that you arrive wearing your bathing suit in order to reduce time needed to change
  • The change rooms have been divided with floor markings to allow each swimmer, or family/household, enough space to change and remain physical distant from others
  • Lockers will not be available
  • Personal belongings must be brought onto the pool deck and kept in the provided laundry basket.
  • Before coming onto the pool deck all swimmers must take a cleansing shower with soap for at least 1 minute
  • We recommend taking the opportunity to use the toilet before the lesson.

During Lesson:

  • Participants signed up for preschool private lessons, or Swim Kid levels 1-4 will require a parent in the water to ensure safety and assist in any hands-on aspect of the lesson.
  • Pool space for each lesson will be designated and divided. Participants will be encouraged to maintain physical distancing.
  • Loaning of spare goggles will not available
  • We recommend you fill a water bottle at home. However, paper drinking cups for the fountain will be available
  • To reduce the number of people in the J, parents are not able to watch the lessons at this time

After Lessons:

  • Access to the showers and changerooms will be unavailable AFTER the lessons.
  • Class participants will be given 10 minutes to dry off on the deck. Please bring a warm robe, extra towel, or oversized clothing to put on over swimsuit.
  • Exiting the pool area will be through the east doors, and back up through the J.
  • Parents or guardians must pick up after the program is done. A late fee will be charged to those who do not pick up on time.
