DANA CAMIL HEWITT
Dana is an arts administrator and musicologist with extensive international experience in arts management and education. Before becoming Director of the Dena Wosk School of Performing Arts in 1999, she worked for the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tel-Aviv University. She is also a freelance writer, specializing in arts and culture.
Jana began dancing at the age of 5 and has enjoyed a career spanning film, TV and stage. She has danced alongside Michael Buble, model Carmen Electra and taught Amanda Seyfried her dance moves for the film "Red Riding Hood". She has danced in various TV commercials and on the USA Network TV show "Psych" and "The Good Bye Girl". Jana has also enjoyed performing at Tokyo Disneyland, and touring with the Canadian Concert Military Show Tour throughout Canada, Israel, Egypt and Afghanistan. Jana loves teaching and is vlooking forward to another great year.
Catherine has been a dance educator for over 15 years with a BFA in Contemporary Dance from SFU, and a Dance Diploma from Grant MacEwan College. A dancer with a strong classical and jazz background, she has been awarded numerous scholarships and bursaries. Catherine has danced professionally with companies such as Mascall Dance and UpBustle Dance Theatre. This summer, Catherine has been invited to perform at the Fallensdager festival in Sweden, for her third appearance with UK-based danced company sirenscrossing.
Acro, Jazz, Ballet
Kirstyn König began dancing at the age of 9 in Calgary, where she trained at The School of Alberta Ballet. She went on to train at the National Ballet School of Toronto and The Young Canadians School of Performing Arts. After graduating, she spent 3 years as a featured dancer on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Her repertoire includes everything from hip-hop and Latin dance, to circus aerial arts. Kirstyn is based in Vancouver and can be seen in various mediums, such as: music videos for Michael Buble, Dan Mangan, on TV/Film productions such as Once Upon A Time, Hellcats, This Means War, and other productions.
Ballet, Jazz, Acro
Melissa was born in Toronto and began dancing at the age of 4. Recipient of countless awards, she graduated from Ryerson University with a BFA in Theatre Dance. She went on to receive extensive training at Broadway Dance Center in New York City and The Edge in L.A. Melissa has danced professionally in Canada, Europe as well as the US. She has worked on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line as a featured dancer, assistant choreographer and featured dancer for Walt Disney Canada as well as playing the role of Belle in Euro Disney's review shows in Paris. Since becoming a successful dancer, Melissa has been expanding her knowledge, passion and wisdom to her students.
Tap, Hip Hop, Acro, Jazz
At the age of 4, Tessa started her dance training in Lethbridge, Alberta. She learned jazz, contemporary, tap, hip hop, musical theatre and ballet, and practiced them for 13 years before moving to Vancouver to further her training. At only 24, Tessa has already danced with the Source Dance Company , the Lux Dance Company, worked for multiple artists, such as Marianas Trench and Nelly Furtado, as well as an appearance in the Nickelodeon film "Rags."
A native of Prince George, Marcy Mills started dancing at the age of 3 and hasn't looked back since. Upon graduating high school, Marcy moved to Vancouver to audition and was accepted in the Source Dance Company. She continued to Toronto and trained extensively in contemporary, ballet and modern. Oh her return to Vancouver, she was offered a professional position with Lux Dance Company. Marcy loves spreading her vast knowledge of movement through teaching and choreography, and hopes to bring passion and joy to her students.
Jocelyn is an accomplished Musical Theatre performer, a graduate of UBC in Acting who also trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. With a long list of theatre and film credits under her belt, she was the lead in Theatre Under the Stars production of Legally Blond - The Musical, Snapshots, Arts Club Theatre’s Les Miserables. Jocelyn also teaches our Musical Theatre Summer Camp and is looking forward to next year's Glee Club classes!
Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop
Hailing from Prince George, Keilani trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, theatre, and ballroom. She continues her creative exploration into the realms of acting for film and television. Keilani has performed in many styles and venues internationally, was a main stage Performer with Disney Cruise Line Entertainment and appeared in numerous music videos. Her training includes scholarships to New York and L.A. with Pushing Progress, Alvin Ailey, the EDGE Performing Arts Center and the Millennium Dance Complex. Keilani has been a teacher throughout the province since 2005 and has been featured as a guest workshop instructor.
RACHEL CLAMAN (RAHEL)
Rahel has been bellydancing professionally since 2003 and teaching since 2008. Her fluid, serpentine control, and engaging stage presence make her a highly sought after performer/instructor. Rahel is both a certified bellydance instructor and a yoga teacher. She is the official dancer for gypsy fusion band Tambura Rasa and has opened for international music sensations Nickodemus and Shantel. She is deeply devoted to growth of her students, and is known for compassionate, creative and effective teaching methods for this beautiful, ancient art form… because everyone deserves bellydance! www.raheldance.com
Jazz, Hip Hop
Mahkeela grew up in Victoria but danced her way over to Vancouver in 2010. She graduated from the Intensive Training Programme at Harbour Dance, and danced with Souldiers and now with Kill The Lights Company. She loves many different styles of dance, but for now is concentrating on Hip Hop and Street Jazz. When she is not dancing her heart out, you can easily find her eating Nutella, singing, laughing so hard she cries, or all of the above. Mahkeela is very excited to join our team and is looking forward to meeting our students!
