NANCY LETICIA
Piano

Nancy Leticia is a graduate in jazz piano from VCC and Capilano University. With over 15 years of teaching experience under her belt, she’s developed a reputation for fun and engaging lessons that keep her students interested and looking forward to more. With her strong background in classical and jazz piano, she is able to provide effective tools that help lay a secure foundation for her students and is committed to providing the best education for each of them.

CLARA SHANDLER
Piano

Clara Shandler is a classically trained musician from Vancouver, who plays and teaches piano, cello and violin. She completed a B.Mus degree at UBC and has spent the past decade teaching, performing, recording and writing in a number of different mediums. Clara has held teaching jobs in Canada, Nepal, Cambodia, and Myanmar as a private teacher and a classroom instructor. Clara guides her students to find their own unique musical path through a variety of musical games and exercises.

Private lesson fees: $65/1 hour $50/45 min $38/30 min – payable every 4 lessons.

KATHERINE MATLASHEWSKI
Voice

Katherine is a Jewish interdisciplinary artist and a graduate of Studio 58. Having instructed at CTYP, Arts Umbrella, Lights Up, and Crossmaneuver, she is excited to continue sharing her passion for the Arts with children and youth. Katherine developed a strong foundation in musical theatre by training with the Arts Club Senior Musical Theatre Intensive and the Arts Umbrella Pre-Professional Musical Theatre Troupe. Select credits include: One of a Kind (Vancouver International Children’s Festival), Everyone Loves a Mystery, The Rocky Horror Show, Cerulean Blue, Tomorrow Love (Studio 58), East Van Panto.  Katherine encourages her students to, “take chances, make mistakes, and get messy”!

MELODY CHEN
Violin

An alumni of the UBC School of Music, Melody is a Vancouver-based violinist and violin instructor.  She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Violin Performance, as well as a 1st Violin position in the Prince George Symphony Orchestra.  A regular performer for local composers, Melody carries an equal passion for both classical and contemporary music.  Melody has also been an active violin instructor since 2014, and strongly follows her belief of education and growth through constructive, positive self-reflection.  .

LAINE LONGTON
Cello

Laine Longton has been playing the cello since the age of 5 and holds a B. Mus in Performance from the UVic, a M. Mus from the University of Illinois, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from UBC. Laine runs the string section of UBC’s Summer Music Camps. She loves teaching and believes in a personalized approach for each student.

JEFF TOBIN
Drums

Jeff has been playing, performing, teaching and recording on the drum set since he was 8. He furthered his drumming studies by taking lessons with a percussionist from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and later started playing with the band ColorWheel and performed in Vancouver.
“Playing and teaching the drum set is a passion that brews inside. I couldn’t think of doing anything else and I feel so fortunate to be making a career out of it.”
Jeff is a very engaging, energetic and well-loved teacher who also performs at JCC community events.
