Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver completes $70K fitness facility upgrade.

VANCOUVER, B.C., October 1st – The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (JCC) announces that it has completed upgrades to its fitness centre with $70k of new strength training equipment and cardio machines.

Already a vibrant active living hub for all members of the Vancouver Oakridge neighborhood, the recent upgrade added several new cardio machines, 25 new pieces of strength equipment plus all new dumbbells, plates and barbells transforming the centre into a modern and versatile training space.
“Health, fitness and wellness are the foundation of a strong community” says Eldad Goldfarb, JCC Executive Director “This significant fitness equipment upgrade will ultimately enhance the lives of many people for years to come.”

“The Fall 2013 fitness equipment upgrade project had several key goals,” says JCC Fitness Director Talitha Johnston. To replace aging and out dated strength training equipment, to replace large and bulky ‘single’ stations with smaller units that allows 2-3 times more users per unit, to introduce modern and ergonomically designed age-friendly equipment and accessories that allow full access (i.e.: easy to adjust with weak hands, easy to move, wheel chair friendly, and easy to set-up and fit all bodies). The upgrade modernized the facility for the latest training techniques and created a modern & beautiful space that rivals the best facilities in town.

These decisions, select pieces and the manufacturer were based on 30 years collective
experience in the fitness industry between the JCC’s Fitness & Assistant Fitness
Directors. Decisions were also based on several months of research, liaison with fitness
directors across North America, off-site visits, dealer visits and international travel to
fitness conferences.

JCC members can look forward to an enhanced user experience with significantly more
stations, variety and program design options.
