Mimi Gellman is a visual artist and curator and Associate Professor in the department of Culture and Community at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She is currently completing her PhD thesis: Between the Dreamtime and the GPS / The Metaphysics of Indigenous Mapping. As a mixed blood of Ojibwe/M├ętis and Jewish parents from Rat River Settlement, Manitoba and Slonim, Russia respectively, she brings unique personal perspective to the interrelationships between Jews and Indigenous peoples in Canada.

In this session Mimi will explore the common ground, from the love of story, the significance of respect for our elders and tradition, and the journey of survival, to provoke insights and illuminate the connections and shared responsibilities between these two rich cultures.
