Medically-based programs

HAPPY HEARTS CARDIAC PROGRAM   
A community-based, supportive exercise program for those living with heart disease or for heart disease prevention. Supervised by VGH Vancouver Coastal Health. Attend two classes per week plus wellness talk.  Happy Hearts Plus and Happy Hearts Maintenance classes available. Registration is ongoing. Contact Fitness Director.

Connect mind and body to facilitate fluid movement. The best principles of the nationally acclaimed Dance for PD program and Kundalini Yoga combine in this non-intimidating class.  No experience necessary. Care aides welcome. Join anytime.

"My enthusiasm for physical expression began with a Eurythmics class when I was 11.  My training and then coaching expanded to gymnastics, figure skating and track & field. Over the past 30 years I have studied various forms of dance and creative movement. 

In addition to being registered as a BCRPA Personal Trainer and Older Adult Fitness Leader I am a certified Kundalini Yoga and Songshine instructor, and have training in Dance for PD  (with Mark Morris).

I have a passion for helping people find creative ways to improve fitness level and gain greater strength, coordination and movement fluidity specifically those post-stroke, or with Alzheimer's  or Parkinson’s."

PWR! MOVES
These classes follow the effective Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery approach (PWR!Moves) developed by Dr. Becky Farley, a physical therapist, neuroscientist and Parkinson’s exercise specialist. Exercises will target foundational skills.
