NEW The Cathy Narod Water Safety Initiative

Why This Initiative by the Narod Family…

Cathy’s story

“Cathy was 2. She was beautiful. She was mischievous. And her favourite song was “Bah, Bah, Black Sheep.” Cathy’s death was entirely preventable. She had just learned to swim with a life jacket in our family swimming pool. Unnoticed, she got out of the house and through the open gate to the pool yard. No one was ever certain how. She put on a life jacket and jumped in the deep end. She slipped through the life jacket. She had not known how to buckle it. It changed our lives forever.”

Family Fun Pool Party
Sunday, May 31 2:30-4:00pm
Parents, give up your cell phone for an afternoon in exchange for admission to our family pool party. Join us for games, demonstrations, door prizes, and snacks with a water safety theme.

Swim to Survive Day
Sunday, June 21
Session 1 10:00am – 12:00pm
Session 2 1:00-3:00pm
Can you pass the Swim To Survive challenge? Join our instructors to learn the essential skills needed to survive an unexpected fall into deep water. Participants will be encouraged to roll into deep water, tread water for 1 minute, and finally swim 50m.

Swim to Survive skills are not replacements for swimming lessons. Through the Cathy Narod Water Safety Initiative a certain amount of scholarships will be available to help remove barriers for families whose children might not otherwise be able to participate.
