The Jewish
Community Centre of Greater Vancouver proudly presents

| Jack
Diamond’s Legacy (1909-2001) |

|
JACK
DIAMOND was a leader in business, a devoted family man,
an inspiring community citizen, and to the world of sports the father
of modern-day horse racing in British Columbia. Always full of his
trademark energy, Mr. Diamond had been up-front fixture of these
dinners. Space doesn’t permit us to tell the complete story
of his great life, but here are some highlights. A
leading member of the city’s Jewish community, Jack was
a philanthropist, and distinguished himself with several gifts
to Simon Fraser University, and a donation of land to the BC Cancer
Agency. He was a co-founder of Vancouver’s Variety Club
and the BC Heart Foundation, a Chancellor of SFU, a Freeman of
the City, and honorary Doctor of Laws, and a Companion of the
Order of Canada. |

A community minded businessman, MORAY KEITH has built Dueck GM into a vibrant group of companies, including Canada’s largest GM dealership. Moray is well known for his professional success in the automotive industry; but it’s his impressive contributions to community sports, athletics and recreation across British Columbia that have made him an exceptional and deserving recipient of the 2010 Jack Diamond Sports Personality of the Year Award.
As President of the Chiefs Development Group Moray joined forces with the cities of Chilliwack and Langley to build and operate the first successful Public-Private Partnerships (P3’s) in BC – Prospera Centre and The Langley Events Centre. As Co-Owner of the multiplex’s and their respective Home Teams, the BCHL Langley Chiefs and the WHL Chilliwack Bruins, Moray has become a respected and innovative leader. With construction underway on the Moose Jaw Mulitplex and an impending deal to build and operate the Burnaby Mountains Sports Complex, Moray continues to provide our local communities with an arena for sports, events and family entertainment. Actively involved in community sports on all levels, Moray served on the Sponsorship & Marketing Committees for both the 2005 Grey Cup and the 2006 World Jr. Hockey Championships in Vancouver. He is also a founding member of the Waterboys and received the 2005 Commissioner’s Award for contributions to the CFL. Moray is also currently a Director for the BC Football Hall of Fame and the Richmond Olympic Oval Corporation. Moray, who lives in Tsawwassen with his wife Pamela and two children Gregory and Courtney, can also often be found lending his time and support to local charities like the Canuck Foundation.
We are thrilled to recognize Moray’s many contributions to our growing communities and commend him for his widespread and sincere passion for quality sports and entertainment in BC. |
